Copyright and Licensing Policy
1- Introduction:
The University Forum Journal for Humanities and Applied Studies is committed to protecting the intellectual property rights of authors and promoting the responsible and fair use of published scholarly content. This policy aims to clarify copyright ownership, the rights retained by authors, and the rights of users to reuse content published by the journal.
2- Copyright and First Publication Rights:
Authors retain the copyright to their works published in the University Forum Journal for Humanities and Applied Studies.
Upon acceptance of an article for publication, the authors grant the journal the right of first publication, as well as the rights necessary to publish, make available, distribute, and archive the article as part of the journal's scholarly publishing activities.
Granting the right of first publication does not constitute a transfer of copyright ownership from the authors to the journal.
The journal may make the article available in various electronic formats, including PDF, HTML, and XML, and may use bibliographic metadata associated with the article, including its title, abstract, keywords, and author information, for indexing, archiving, article identification, and journal promotion purposes.
3- Authors' Rights:
Authors retain copyright and all other rights associated with their published works.
Authors have the right to:
- Reuse their published works in books or subsequent scholarly works.
- Share and make their published articles available through institutional repositories, personal websites, and other permitted platforms.
- Use their articles for teaching and research purposes.
- Redistribute or share their articles in accordance with the terms of the CC BY 4.0 License.
- Create derivative works or make adaptations of their work in accordance with the terms of the license.
When reusing or sharing an article, authors must clearly acknowledge the authorship and the original source of the article and the journal.
4- Creative Commons Licensing:
The journal publishes all articles under the:
Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0)
This license permits others to copy, redistribute, and share the article in any medium or format, and to remix, transform, adapt, and build upon the work, including for commercial purposes, provided that:
- Appropriate credit is given to the author or authors.
- The University Forum Journal for Humanities and Applied Studies is identified as the original source.
- Reference is made to the CC BY 4.0 License.
- Any changes made to the work are indicated.
- The attribution is not presented in a manner that suggests that the author or the journal endorses the user or the user's use of the work.
5- Rights and Use of Published Content:
Users are permitted to access, read, download, copy, redistribute, share, adapt, and build upon published articles, including for commercial purposes, provided that they comply fully with the terms of the CC BY 4.0 License.
Users may not imply that the authors or the journal endorse a particular use of the work when no such endorsement has been expressly given.
6- Attribution and Citation:
When using, republishing, distributing, or adapting any article published by the journal, appropriate attribution should be provided, including, where applicable:
- The name of the author or authors.
- The title of the article.
- The name of the University Forum Journal for Humanities and Applied Studies.
- The issue and year of publication.
- The permanent article URL or DOI, if available.
- A reference to the CC BY 4.0 License.
- An indication of any changes made to the work.
7- Republishing and Reuse:
The reuse, distribution, or sharing of a published article, to the extent permitted under the CC BY 4.0 License, does not require prior permission from the journal, provided that the terms of the license and proper attribution to the authors and the original source are respected.
Third-party materials that are not covered by the CC BY 4.0 License are subject to their respective copyright and licensing terms, and users are responsible for obtaining any permissions required for their use.
8- Authors' Responsibilities:
Authors are required to adhere to the principles and standards of research and publication ethics. All submitted manuscripts are subject to the journal's policies concerning originality, plagiarism, and publication ethics.
Authors must submit original works and avoid plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, and simultaneous submission of the same manuscript to more than one journal. They must properly document sources and references and appropriately acknowledge the contributions of others.
Authors are also responsible for obtaining the necessary permissions to use any third-party materials incorporated into their works.
If an author discovers a significant error in a published work, the author must notify the Editor-in-Chief or the journal's administration so that appropriate action can be taken in accordance with the journal's correction and retraction policies.
9- Quotation and Citation:
Quoting from and reusing content published by the journal is permitted in accordance with the terms of the CC BY 4.0 License, provided that proper attribution is given, including:
- The name of the author or authors.
- The title of the article.
- The name of the journal.
- The issue number and year of publication.
- The permanent URL or DOI, if available.
- A reference to the CC BY 4.0 License.
- An indication of any modifications made to the text or content.
10- Violations and Infringements:
In cases where the use of published content violates the terms of the CC BY 4.0 License, the rights of the authors, or the rights of third parties, the journal reserves the right to take appropriate action in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies. Such action may include:
- Requesting correction of attribution or removal of the infringement.
- Reporting the violation to the relevant platform or authority.
- Taking appropriate legal action when necessary.
Reuse, distribution, or adaptation of an article in compliance with the terms of the CC BY 4.0 License does not constitute a copyright infringement and does not require prior permission from the journal.
11- Third-Party Materials:
The CC BY 4.0 License does not necessarily cover all third-party materials, such as images, tables, figures, or other materials that may be owned by third parties.
Where materials are not covered by the article's license, users should refer to the relevant copyright or licensing statement and obtain any necessary permission for their use, where applicable.
12- Policy Amendments:
The University Forum Journal for Humanities and Applied Studies reserves the right to review and update this Copyright and Licensing Policy in accordance with developments in scholarly publishing and applicable best practices and standards.
Any amendments shall apply to works published in the future, unless otherwise expressly stated in the updated policy.
This policy aims to balance the protection of authors' rights with the promotion of open access to scholarly knowledge and the broad dissemination and reuse of research in accordance with the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) License.
