    Abstract

This study aimed to conceptualize the role of the media communicator in visual media regarding the challenges facing Arab identity The study's theoretical framework was grounded in the "Social Responsibility Theory of the Media." It employed a descriptive-analytical approach, utilizing focus group discussions as a data collection tool among communicators working in the public and regional channels of Egyptian Television. The findings revealed that the communicator's adherence to professional standards and ethical principles—such as accuracy, credibility, transparency, and accountability to the audience—constitutes a fundamental prerequisite for promoting Arab identity. The results also highlighted the necessity of maintaining a comprehensive awareness of the identity’s components, alongside strict compliance with laws and regulations governing copyright, intellectual property, and data protection, particularly given the increasing integration of artificial intelligence applications in media production.

Regarding the challenges, the study identified multiple trajectories faced by communicators. The first trajectory entails technical challenges arising from the rapid evolution of digital media, necessitating urgent adaptation and the selection of optimal platforms. The second trajectory encompasses creative challenges associated with developing engaging media content capable of competing with foreign productions while preserving the value system of Arab heritage. The third trajectory centers on organizational and administrative challenges, including infrastructural deficits, human and technical resource management, and the development of sustainable business models. This is in addition to challenges related to comprehending shifts in the media consumption patterns of the Arab audience. In terms of the identity concept, the results affirmed that Arab identity is predicated on integrated determinants, including shared culture, customs, the Arabic language as a primary formative instrument, and national history. The study noted that socialization institutions—namely the family, educational systems, and the media—serve as the foundational pillars for sustaining this identity. Furthermore, the research demonstrated that Arab identity is exposed to severe threats; these vary from internal threats—such as fragmented unity, developmental lag, the proliferation of extremist ideologies, and a lack of positive role models—to external threats manifested in cultural westernization, ideological offensives, and the deliberate distortion of the Arab image in the media landscape.

The study concluded by offering a set of applied recommendations to overcome the challenges of media pluralism and bias. Most notably, it emphasized the necessity of tailoring specialized programmatic content for youth that resonates with their language and interests, leveraging modern technological tools. Additionally, the study recommended activating partnerships with young influencers to amplify positive messaging; intensifying the production of awareness programs that highlight successful and inspiring Arab models; promoting values of dialogue and cultural understanding; and combating extremist ideologies. These measures aim to ensure the effective role of visual media in safeguarding Arab identity in a responsible, ethical, and objective manner, devoid of rumors.
