Challenges facing Arab partisan media in preserving national identities 55 47
Abstract
Abstract: This study examines the challenges facing Arab partisan media in preserving national identity. It falls within the scope of descriptive research and is structured around an introduction and two main sections. The first section provides a theoretical framework for national identity, addressing its concept, characteristics, and the challenges affecting it. The second section discusses partisan media in terms of its definition and the environmental challenges it faces. The study reached several key findings, most notably: the weak balance between partisan and national dimensions; the prioritization of partisan interests over public interests; the reinforcement of political polarization at the expense of social cohesion; and the consolidation of partisan identity more strongly than national identity. The study also proposed several recommendations, the most important of which is enhancing cooperation among governmental, partisan, and private media institutions, as well as various civil society organizations, in order to promote the values of citizenship and national belonging and to preserve national identity.
