About University Forum Journal
University Forum Journal for Humanities and Applied Studies (UFJHAS) is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by the Faculty of Arts, University of Bani Waleed, Libya. It is dedicated to publishing original scholarly research and studies in the fields of the humanities and social sciences, as well as relevant interdisciplinary and applied areas.
The journal began publication in 2012 and was initially published in print. Its print edition continued until 2025. It is registered with the National Book House in Benghazi under registration No. (2012-446). Beginning in 2026, the journal adopted electronic publishing through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform, enabling the publication and dissemination of scholarly research in a more timely and systematic manner and expanding its academic reach and accessibility.
The journal holds the International Standard Serial Number (ISSN Online): 3006-0893. It is an open-access journal that provides access to its electronically published scholarly content in accordance with its adopted open-access policy.
The journal publishes two issues per year under a continuous electronic publishing policy. Each article is published individually as soon as the peer-review process, final approval, and publication preparation have been completed, without waiting for the completion of the issue. The published article is then assigned to the appropriate issue of the year.
The journal publishes research in Arabic, English, and French, and all submitted manuscripts are subject to peer review in accordance with the journal’s established procedures and standards.
1- Aims of the Journal:
The journal aims to contribute to the advancement of scholarly knowledge by publishing original research of academic value in the humanities and social sciences and their relevant interdisciplinary and applied fields, while encouraging research that combines the originality of humanities scholarship with the use of contemporary scientific and technological developments.
It also seeks to support researchers, promote scholarly communication and knowledge exchange, encourage interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research, and contribute to the study of human, social, cultural, historical, educational, spatial, and heritage-related issues, thereby strengthening the presence of Libyan and Arab scholarly research in the academic community.
2- Scope of the Journal:
The humanities constitute the principal focus of the journal’s academic scope. Its areas of interest include history and historical studies; archaeology and heritage; geography and spatial studies; philosophy and intellectual studies; languages, linguistics, and literature; sociology and social studies; psychology and behavioral studies; education and educational sciences; media and communication; cultural studies and anthropology; library and information science; the arts; and other related fields within the humanities.
The journal welcomes interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research that employs concepts, methodologies, or tools from more than one discipline, provided that the research makes a clear contribution to the study of human, social, cultural, historical, educational, or spatial issues and that its subject matter and methodology are consistent with the journal’s scope.
The journal also considers applied research related to the humanities and social sciences, particularly research that employs contemporary scientific methods and technologies to investigate human, social, cultural, historical, spatial, educational, and heritage-related phenomena. Depending on the nature of the research, this includes areas such as digital humanities, heritage documentation and research, geographic information systems (GIS) in humanities and spatial studies, educational technologies, data analysis in the humanities and social sciences, and digital and technological applications relevant to people, society, and culture.
The journal encourages the use of quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods approaches; historical, comparative, and critical methodologies; field research; data analysis; and digital and computational methods, provided that their use is appropriate to the nature of the research and enhances its scholarly value.
The term “Applied” in the journal’s title does not imply coverage of all branches of the applied sciences. Rather, it refers to research and applications that have a clear academic connection to the humanities and social sciences or to the issues and fields of knowledge covered by the journal. Accordingly, research belonging to independent applied-science disciplines will not be considered unless it demonstrates a substantive connection to the journal’s scope.
Submitted research is evaluated on the basis of its subject matter, scholarly contribution, methodology, and degree of alignment with the journal’s aims and academic scope.
3- Peer Review and Academic Integrity:
The journal is committed to the principles of scholarly originality, methodological rigor, academic integrity, transparency, and research and publication ethics. Submitted manuscripts undergo peer review in accordance with the journal’s established procedures and standards.
The journal uses text-similarity detection tools as part of its editorial procedures when necessary. Similarity screening alone does not constitute a final judgment on the originality of a manuscript; the results of the screening, the nature of the text, and the academic and editorial assessment are taken into consideration when determining the scholarly integrity and originality of the research.
4- Electronic Publishing and Open Access:
The journal uses the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform to manage manuscript submission, peer review, editorial processing, and electronic publication, thereby facilitating an organized publishing workflow and improving access to scholarly content.
Published research is made available under the journal’s open-access policy, thereby promoting access to scholarly knowledge for researchers, students, and academic and research institutions.
The journal also seeks to develop its electronic and indexing presence and to improve the discoverability and accessibility of its published research through search engines, academic databases, and scholarly indexes, in accordance with applicable requirements and standards.
5 -Vision:
University Forum Journal for Humanities and Applied Studies seeks to serve as a rigorous scholarly platform that brings together the originality of humanities research, openness to interdisciplinary scholarship, and engagement with scientific and technological developments. It aims to contribute to the production of rigorous academic knowledge of scholarly value and to encourage research addressing contemporary human, social, and cultural issues.
